Ethics is a complex issue, encompassing environmental, socio-economic and humanitarian factors, and there is no one right answer. We have chosen to only use recycled precious metals because these metals are already in circulation in the world and do not therefore contribute further to the potentially adverse effects that mining can have on ecosystems and communities. You can find out more about the materials we use and why here.
Some of our metals go beyond simple recycled metal and have a super cool backstory embedded in the world of planetary remediation. For example, our copper comes from the electrical wiring of a remediation system I installed nearly 20 years ago to clean up a kerosene spill residing atop a groundwater resource used for public drinking water.
