Ethical Wedding Venues: The London Edition

Our unique collection of gold rings has always put our wonderful environment first – and such is our passion and commitment for all things ethical, that we’ve decided to launch a new series here on our blog.

We know that most of the visitors to our site are in the middle of wedding planning, so we thought we’d give them a helping hand when it comes to choosing the perfect venue. With that in mind, we’re bringing you ethically focused venues from around the UK.

We’re starting with London but keep an eye on our blog in the coming weeks, as we’ll be sharing new and exciting regional editions of this handy series. Here’s our pick of the best ethical venues in the capital, then…

WWT London Wetlands Centre

If you live in London, you’ll know how difficult it is to find a wedding venue that’s surrounded by nature. Well, call off the search! The WWT London Wetland Centre could well be your dream destination to exchange vows in. It’s situated in the heart of the city but is surrounded by wildlife, gardens, ponds and trees. You’ll be doing you bit for the conservation works of the wildfowl and wetlands trust by getting married here and you can find out more on the site via the link above.

The Tab, Shoreditch

Whether you live in London or just outside, The Tab in Shoreditch is well worth exploring if you’re looking for an ethical wedding venue. With a beautiful garden, the interior (an ivy-coloured grand hall) also provides the perfect backdrop for your nuptials – and we love the sound of The Tab for many more reasons. One of them is this: it uses its wedding hire profits to run all kinds of local community hardship projects. It’s also teamed up with Easy Gourmet Catering, who work hard to source all their ingredients from ethical food suppliers – take a look.

The Barbican

Keen to get married in a venue that puts the environment first? The Barbican certainly does. Tie the knot in The Conservatory and not only can you look forward to a beautiful day, you can also rest easy. Why? The venue makes every effort to reduce its carbon footprint via its energy usage and waste management. If you’d like to get married somewhere unusual, you’ve struck gold with this gorgeous tropical oasis.

The RSA, Covent Garden

Also in central London, the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures & Commerce (RSA) was established in 1754 and works to remove the barriers to social progress. It has several environmental programmes, but for wedding specifically, offers several rooms for eco-conscious couples to say their vows in.

Take a look at the beautifully candlelit the Vaults and we bet you’ll be set on this stunning venue. Ideal for brides and grooms-to-be with a social conscience, The RSA is also the place to be for a host of political lectures.

Did you host an ethical wedding? Let us know where you got married by commenting on this blog post below. We’d love to add even more eco-friendly venues to our list, so do get in touch!
